Color Discrimination in Clinical Environments
During procedures, identifying tiny nerves, bleeding micro-vessels, and healthy tissues is critical. If a surgical light has a low color rendering index (CRI), tissues appear desaturated, gray, or indistinct. Optical standards evaluate CRI through a general index (Ra) and a specific red-color index (R9). EPMD surgical lights achieve a Ra of 96 and R9 of 95, ensuring maximum red-tissue discrimination and reducing the risk of accidental vascular cuts.
