The Physics of Depth of Illumination

Surgical fields are not flat surfaces. Surgeons frequently work deep inside wound cavities or surgical incisions. If light beams converge too early, the bottom of the cavity remains dark. In optical engineering, the depth of illumination (measured under L1+L2 parameters) determines how deep a light beam travels while maintaining acceptable brightness levels. System lightheads like the Celesta Series achieve a depth of 1200 mm, ensuring deep pockets remain fully illuminated without frequent manual readjustments.
